This is a time of the year when one can feel the scent of freshly baked cookies, when freezing cheeks are warmed with mulled wine, when one enjoys the walk through the decorated streets in one’s favourite company… In which town did you this year plan to whisper your new year’s wish to Santa? Advent in Vukovar
Christmas village in Srijem, the Bethlehem settlement, countless lamps, decorated Christmas trees and Advent houses with delicious food and mulled wine, concerts, shows and, of course, a skating ring on as many as 600 square meters. The true holiday hustle and bustle with a view on the Danube has started.

The traditional Advent in Vukovar, this year too, takes place from 28 November till 24 December in our most beautiful garden in the town, that of the Eltz Castle. The decorated Oranžerija Gallery within the castle turns into a Santa’s corner, a place of great fun and educational workshops for the youngest. Each Advent weekend the Christmas fair is waiting for you together with the local producers and inexhaustible inspiration for your gifts.
Take a ride in the Christmas carriage to the town square, take photos with nutcrackers kept by the famous Grand Hotel, one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in town, and do not miss the view from the Vukovar Water Tower and visit the Vučedol Culture Museum, just for your soul.
A special event awaits you on the last weekend of Advent. Hundreds of lanterns with good wishes will shine in the sky over the Danube then.

Advent in Vinkovci
As many as 44 days of Christmas carols will sound also in the town on the Bosut. Advent in Vinkovci from 27 November till 8 January traditionally starts with the lighting of the first Advent candle in a large wreath around the Holy Trinity Monument in the centre of the town park, just a step away from the Vinkovci main square, decorated with thousands of lamps and with the biggest Christmas tree in town.
This year’s centre of the event has moved to a new location so that the Frozen Orion was replaced by the Fairy tale on the Bosut on the Franjo Tuđman Square. To the joy of the youngest, a circular skating ring of 50 m2 opens from 11 December and, in its centre, there is the Santa’s house with a wish box to be reached on a wooden bridge. The irresistible scents spread from ten Advent houses and there is also a souvenir shop with jam, essential oils, honey, candleholders and nuts of eight local producers.
The Christmas Market awaits you every day from 16 to 24 December and a special event this year too is the traditional Advent concert on 12 December on the windows of the Vinkovci Gymnasium in the centre of the town.
Make use of the occasion, take a walk on the Bosut embankment all the way to the old Krnjaš with the birth house of Ivan Kozarac, visit the Vinkovci Municipal Museum where the Vinkovci Orion is kept and treat yourself with the Slavonian specialties in one of the Vinkovci restaurants. This is a time of the year when calories do not count!
