Prepoznatljivo i vrlo traženo britansko jelo – English breakfast, u srijemskom doručku ima dostojnu konkurenciju, a poklonici ovog potonjeg odgovorno tvrde kako je srijemski još ukusniji, raznovrsniji i bogatiji. Rukavica je bačena, a nije lako izazvati nekoga sa statusom institucije koji korijene vuče još iz viktorijanskog doba – i uz to je vrlo je cijenjen, servira se na svakom koraku, često i kao zamjena ručku i večeri.

It was served across courts in medieval Europe, its aromas delighted the aristocracy of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy, including the Habsburg empress Maria Theresia, and it was served on Titanic, along with fine delicacies

Did the dessert wine Bermet (German vermouth) so confuse and daze the captain of Titanic that he oversaw the big iceberg that was fatal for the passengers of the ship that night in April 1912? Even though in a joke, that question was asked after the bottle of Bermet with the label from Sremski Karlovci – where this aromatic wine has been produced for centuries – was found on Titanic. The bottle was taken from the ship wreck 73 years after the ship had sunk.

In Vukovar-Srijem county they know how to present historical facts in a modern and interesting way. Here, for the first time in Croatia, they “revived” famous persons. Not one, but three!

Meet them live! Nobel Prize winner Lavoslav Ružička, ruler Nikola of Ilok and governor Josip Šokčević. The three of them await the visitors in Vukovar, Ilok and Vinkovci, telling stories of their towns, way of life and their achievements… How is it possible, the older among you will ask, but the younger already know that they are holograms, the wonder of modern technology.
